2008: The year that was

This year was THE fastest year in 17 years of my life. It was starkly different. Life-changing. Physically transforming. Full of unexpected twists. Disappointment, anger, surprise, boredom, excitement all rolled into one.

This year, I:

Changed my hairstyle 3 times, within 6 months. That makes it 2 months 1 hairstyle. And to imagine I used to have coconut hairstyle from my first haircut till form 2... Read more

Worked in Genting from January 1st to April 30th. It was actually my first job. Looking back, it was a really worthwhile experience; my colleagues were all real nice. My bosses were even nicer; always belanja makan one :) Plus I learned bowling, karaoke(not exactly something you need to learn la... but my 1st karaoke experience was at Genting) & proper way of playing badminton there... Read more

Didn't get JPA scholarship. It wasn't a big blow to me or something, because I'm not exactly eloquent/charismatic/outstanding/outspoken, in any way. I'm just a normal, hardworking (cheh) girl who worries too much over everything. (lol don't worry though I don't have OCD. I think.) Read more

Finally decided to take A-levels at Inti College Subang Jaya. Turned out to be a good choice and made some A-W-E-S-O-M-E friends at college (high school friends rock too!! just so you know) and did lots of crazy, out of this world stuff that are best left unknown. Or else it will cause public distress. Read more

Got myself contact lenses. That I didn't dare wear to our high school class gathering; I thought that they would melt under steam and I would get blind. -_-"

Developed rashes and my skin started peeling, like literally. Like a snake. And it all started right after I got my contacts and 2 days before my birthday! But all is well now, except for some roughness around my chin. Soon after my dad developed shingles (which is sorta like old people chickenpox) so my rashes was probably due to chickenpox that I eventually passed to my dad. Read more

Went for karaoke for 10++ times this year. The "me" last year would never think of stepping into a karaoke lounge, what more sing my intestines out and strip dance in it (I stripped my jacket only la ok)

Groomed my eyebrows. You should check out some of my older posts. I could make Crayon Shin Chan get down on all fours and call me "si-fu".

But there are still some unresolved matters; like what do I really, really want to do in life. My career. My future. Actually I'm pretty interested in Advertising but I chose a path in science. But I know things will just be all right once the time is right (wahh I like very mature like dat hor? *immerses in self-admiring*)

Hopefully 2009 be a blast! And all the best to those who are going overseas next year for further studies... Blogging is a good way of keeping in touch :)

Melaka 1-Day Trip

Last Sunday we went to Melaka with Kelab Shah Alam Selangor, and it only cost RM 50 per person! (transportation, food & entrance tickets included) Cheap right?

The only regret from the trip is that I didn't get to try ANY local delicacies, e.g. Melaka Chicken Rice (鸡饭粒), Cendol etc... But these are a few destinations that we went to:

1. Melaka Zoo

Just so you know I am notoriously known for taking TONS of wildlife pictures; during my std 6 year end trip to singapore, I finished the one and only roll of film taking zoo pictures -_-" (didn't have digital camera back then)

Presenting the tip of the iceberg...

A headless Faber Castell parrot! He must be on strike due to pay cut due to recession -_-"

The only sleeping owl in the cage. The others were happily enjoying the limelight...

My mom with the tapir. It's so much bigger in real life

Miniature horse. Looks like eeyore from Winnie the Pooh eh?

Two lemurs yearning to join another lemur inside that enclosure. So darn ironic. I bet the one inside wants to come out la -_-"

Oh ya my father cracked a joke when we saw the deer.

Dad: You know the difference between a "high deer" and "old deer"?

Me: No. What?

Dad: One is "Hi, dear!" and the other is "Oh, dear!"

SUPERSWTSWTSWTx10000

Educated Orang Utan! But I wonder how come he/she wasn't locked up (only him/her la) and just allowed to roam in the open; people might get hurt

2. Maritime Museums

There are a couple of them located close to each other but honestly there's nothing much to see

One of the museums are shaped like a ship. And you have no idea how many times I heard people around me crack jokes about "the Carribean sea" and "Captain Jack Sparrow"

My dad at his jokes again. (This is the ship captain's room)

Me: How come the wall and the floors all senget (lopsided) one?

Dad: So when there's a storm and the seas go rocky, the room will appear upright lo...

-_-". again.

3. Menara Taming Sari (Taming Sari Tower)

There was a freaking long queue... I strongly suggest not to go on weekends/public holidays. You'll spend 90% of the time waiting.

The circular part revolves 3/4 times at the peak before it comes down again... You can take in the full view of Melaka--The Stadhuys, St. Paul's Church, the museums and even Eye on Malaysia. Definitely worth it.

Eye on Malaysia from the top of the tower

4. A Famosa Fort

The walls were supposedly made from iron; that's why it's still the last wall standing

Since when were trishaws so commercialised?

Real, real bad traffic.

2 lovebirds outside The Stadhuys :)

5. Eye on Malaysia

We were having small talk with other passengers in the gondola.

Woman to mom: Your daughter ah? How old?

Mom: This year, 17

Woman: Wah! Really ah? She looks so... young...

Mom: *laughs and smiles*

Me: *looks on peacefully but feeling -_-"*

Even the ticket master at the zoo asked my mom.

"Ini... above 12 kah?"

YESYESYES!! FREAKING YES!! Sudah above 12! 5 tahun dahulu lah abang!

6. Melaka River Cruise

There was also a super super long queue here... I think about 1 or 2 km. And the whole cruise took about 45 mins. So how long were the others supposed to wait?? (oh ya fyi we went 1st since we booked early ^^)
The river was pretty clean for Malaysian standards and VERY SQUEAKY CLEAN for Klang standards

So due to traffic jam + queuing up = we didn't get to go Jonker Street. It was supposed to be pasar malam-ish with lots of stuff to buy...

p.s. Suat Hoon and I went to Grace's Christmas house party last night! (another Grace. Not grace from last post.) Will update next time :)

Saturday, December 27

Hohoho

What is wrong with streamyx nowadays?? It took me about 500000 light years just to get to this page..-_-"

Ok. Breathe in, breathe out.

On a merrier note, I went to Grace's church 2 nights ago for Christmas..

Well actually it was a pretty daunting experience entering church for the first time in more than a year, and what more, I was 20 minutes early!! Why are my parents so darn punctual all the time?? I was really counting on the Klang town traffic jam, but traffic turned out to be smoother than my leg after waxing (lol I can be sooo lame sometimes). But why so untimely one?

But anyway all turned out okay; everyone was friendly and hospitable and soon it was dinner time! (gosh I shouldn't sound so excited since I don't want to sound like I went there for free food *guilty*)

Fooooood! The senior citizens first... Honestly buffet dinners should be made this way

After that there were performances in the hall...

I wanted to upload Grace's performance but it was wayyy too long.. So here's a video of a short worship session... Their voices are like pitch perfect and super touching T.T

Everyone has their own way of spending Christmas but mine will not be complete without being where it all started (sadly, not Bethlehem ^^) but relishing in Him and seeing the true focus of the occasion.

So Happy (Belated) Birthday, Jesus! &

Merry (Belated) Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Childhood memories

Mom and I have been doing some spring cleaning (during winter -_-"). So while cleaning I pretty much relished in my childhood memories, which weren't much actually, if you count stuffing a basketball into my shirt, declaring to the entire household that I was pregnant and giving birth to a teddy bear with the help of a rabbit doctor. And you should be lucky I omitted the part where I screamed and writhed in pain during the ball labor -_-"

Sometimes I hoped that I had siblings of almost the same age (refer to big bro and big sis's blogs on sidebar) so I wouldn't be... I don't know how to put it la. I just know things would be different. Oh ya plus I would know how to fight back, 'cause now at home I don't have to fight with anyone for the last piece of fried chicken. I just TAKE it. (my parents are controlling their blood pressure level, so) So I know it sounds weird but I want someone to fight with me. I want some healthy competition. (See the keyword? healthy. So now don't suka suka simply cari gaduh with me ok.)

So these are what I found while clearing my shelves:

Two paper princesses made by yours truly and my sis.. the body is made from the cardboard part of the toilet paper roll (haiyo the only part that cannot be used to clean your posterior)

The only Power Rangers that all girls like...

Fragrant candle stuff bought at Ikea. Now I'm like what was I thinking? why waste money on smell???

My primary school student card. And I used to think I would never graduate primary school. And now time seems to speed up as we go older... oh no I might need that botox sooner than I thought... n ya that means you first Tiffy ^^

A heart shaped rock my mom and I found at FRIM nature centre waterfall...really sweet right?

Please help me....

...get richer ^^

Anyone who has friends or friend's friends who wants to study at Inti College Subang Jaya? Please leave a comment!

Muhaha yes if I recommend a student I get RM 500! But of course I'll split 50:50 la :)

Actually the more popular pre-u choice at Inti would be AUP (american university programme) but classes for A-levels are not bad too (honestly some of them WANTED to study SAM at Taylors but not enough $$ ka-ching)

The bright side of studying AUP is that you'll have TONS of friends from different classes, unlike A-levels, which is pretty much like form 6, minus the uniform. And an easier syllabus.

Well it really depends where you want to study after your pre-u course (but of course there are 3+0 programmes for AUP too) and how much can you afford.

So if you're interested (or know anyone who is) please come on 20th/21st dec (it's our open day) and please tell me! 'cause i have to come along to earn my RM 500. Ok la the RM 250 :P

College + Sunway Pyramid

A few days ago Suat Hoon and I went back to college to borrow some reference books... for revision (but they are till now sitting quietly on my study table, accumulating dust. so much for the revision.)

Guess what? The Inti new building is under renovation! Again! (and sad to say, the cafeteria is STILL smaller than Kwang Hua girls' toilet. We have a bigger place to pee than to eat. -_-") Maybe since it has been bought over by the Laureate International Universities... read more here.

Oh we also borrowed our Stats textbook for next sem! And hog the book for the whole sem so we can save money buying it, plus it was the last book left on the rack. Which increased our level of satisfaction of getting to it in time :P

After that we took the bas mini to Sunway Pyramid for some shopping!!!

More accurately, window shopping la.

We headed for Asian Avenue (which some people deem as the lala-ish place) and bought nothing. We headed for all shops with SALE! screaming on their countless posters/banners and still got nothing.

By that time my hands (and Suat Hoon's) super itchy already. We wanted to buy some stuff but there was nothing suitable! I really don't understand how people can just spend RM100++ in a day! How can they see so many things that they like and just BUY them?

Ok la, if I had legs that stretched a mile long & nice arms & C-cup boobs & a flat tummy then different la. 'Cause by then everything will look good on me and I would probably buy everything.

So anyway to cut the story short Suat Hoon finally got a pair of really nice shoes!

At ruffey id; RM 50 after 10% discount; if you buy another item then both will have 30% discount... I looked through all the clothes & bag & shorts & pants but didn't find anything that I liked... So Suat Hoon had to stick with the 10% discount. But don't you think they're really, really nice? (Haha sometimes I sound like SUCH a bimbo. With low level of IQ and limited vocabulary.)

And oh ya our lunch; at Ajisen Ramen.
Deluxe chicken katsu set- RM 14.80

California maki- RM 8

And oh an extra info courtesy of Sweat! Jogoya at Starhill Gallery is having promotion for LADIES only!!! 50% off!! and Sweat said it was really worth it... They have Haagen Daaz ice cream, white wine, red wine, and just everything nice! Only till this friday!

Mushi Mushi, wanna have some sushi? (lame but hey, it rhymes)

My mom and I made sushi 2 days ago, and honestly it didn't taste as good as the 1st time we did it... We really had beginner's luck back then... T.T

Here's how we did it: (recipe from the 1st time)

Note: This serves 4 people. We bought the sushi making set at Jusco; costs about RM 31. If you buy that you just need to buy the Japanese rice and your fillings.

Materials:
  • Bamboo roller
  • 5 pieces of seaweed
  • 250g of Japanese rice
  • Fillings (Crabsticks, cucumber, carrots etc; whatever you like)
  • A tablespoon of salt
  • A teaspoon of sugar
  • 75ml of vinegar

1. Dissolve the salt, sugar and vinegar in a bowl.
2. Wash the rice, then cook it with 500ml of water. (and no less! or else the rice will be quite hard)
3. Mix the vinegar solution with the cooked rice and leave it to cool. You can fan it to make the surface glossy.
4. Start wrapping!
Leave the shiny side of the seaweed down and spread the rice till there's only 1/2 inch left at the top. After you cut them into pieces you'll get...

Voila! Tasty sushi ^^

Any recommendations to make it even more delicious?

Welcome...

to the new colour and header of A Dreamer's Sketchbook!

Is it easier to read my posts now that the background is white?

And simple as it seems, i used a whopping 2 hours to edit that header! Thanks to my "superb" skills at Photoshop -_-"

But anyway I'm planning to move to a newer site where I can write password protected posts :P

Yes you got it--> Wordpress.

As long as it loads faster... unlike Xanga (oops!)

Red Box + 大头贴

Note: 大头贴= Professional Camwhoring?

Barely 2 days after our class gathering, we got together again for some serious heart-belting, lung-screaming & bootie-shaking session at Red Box... (Though I think I was the only one who went "high" at the wrong places :P)

The Pussycat Dolls with Celine Dion's amazing voice (haha perasan betul)

Tiffy & Sueann

Not forgetting our photographer! Siew Fen ^^ who's allegedly better than Celine Dion...

After that we headed to Asian Avenue to take the 大头贴 photos..

Note to self: never try opening eyes any wider than its original size

Here's thanks to the Japanese for inventing these machines that made us look fairer, pimple free and adding lots of bling to the pics ^^

This pic was really blurry..

'cause look at how small it really is!

The only complain that I have with this is--no TIME to get ready before the camera goes SNAP! You know we have to straighten our clothes, comb our hair, strike a pose, flash our sweetest smile in like 5 seconds??!!!

Actually we did practice some poses but once the timer started everyone was just like "看哪里?看哪里?" (See which camera?) or "快点!换位!" (faster change positions!)... It was more chaotic than Jusco members day I'm telling you -_-"

Although it cost us quite a lot (Total=RM26/ RM6.50 per person) it was definitely worth it for my high school besties... Love y'all like hell!

xoxo, Tze Hui ^^

a steamy affair

Life after graduating high school did seem to just fly by faster than you can say "librainy rocks". But thanks to Chia Chiun (and ironically, the organiser who couldn't come -_-") and wey kiat, a FINAL gathering was put together before some of our classmates would go overseas early next year. Honestly I've been enjoying college life and I don't spend every day reminiscing high school but after this gathering, I realised I sort of miss the usual chatter and gossip (MOSTLY the gossip) shared among classmates.

And I found out a couple of things:

#1: Some of my classmates read my blog!! (Thank you Chee Ling & Sin Yee!!) *super touched* they knew about the cutting hair in college incident and also my fear of contacts being melted by steam... -_-"

#2: Everyone didn't change much.. and I was there worrying I was the only one who didn't change =)

#3: There wasn't those awkward silences and painful pauses between conversations... I really felt at ease ^^

#4: The food was pretty good! Although I didn't eat much.. we were too busy talking :P

p.s. I have no idea why i came up with that title... doesn't mean I have a dirty mind okay :P we did go for steamboat..

And I'm lazy to post the pics up...but if you want to see them click HERE.

Why

Sometimes I really really wonder what can I do to make my blog ratings soar. Drastically.

Like from 10 unique visits per day to like 10,000.

And I read in someone's blog that she likes to read people writing about their lives. It feels like knowing that blogger personally.

Okay Kenny Sia / Xia Xue / Su Ann etc write about their lives. I write about my life too.

HOW COME I'M NOT FAMOUS???

Why don't sponsors find me for some product testing (haha yeah this is too far fetched) or why don't I get higher blog viewership? Can't I live a mundane & boring life and be rich at the same time? T.T

Okay la this post is an experiment. Whether people really enjoy reading other people's lives.

I cook. Every weekday. But honestly I just cook la. My mom prepares all the raw materials and I just cook them. (Wah since when did I have such a limited vocabulary)

Baked Beans (from the can) + Eggs

Bitter Gourd + Prawns

Curry fish and Lady's fingers

Last wednesday I went for my undang test. And passed! 48/50. And I completed my amali just hours ago.
Apart from cooking, I also spend my time reading.

And camwhoring.

And oh yeah.

I lost the left side of my contact lenses when I was in the attempt of putting them on around 2 weeks ago. Initially I thought it went into my eye (you have NO IDEA how paranoid I can be; except Tiffy :P)

Choi Ju once told me her sister's friend (yeah the stories are always from a friend's friend's friend) used to sleep with her contacts and they went to the back of her eye! They had to take it out through operation.

So having lost one side of my contacts and suddenly thinking of the story got me freaked out and my left eye started to feel uncomfortable & itchy. My whole family got into a toilet-wide search for the rubbery, transparent little thing.

Thankfully my dad found it. And my left eye miraculously stopped itching.

See? The biggest news that has happened in my life is an unnecessary worry over an eye operation.

Ok la. To add to the news, I have class gathering this weekend but I don't dare wear my contacts because we're going for steamboat. And I'm afraid that the steam with make my contacts melt.

Heck, people worry about dying from hunger, poverty and terrorist attacks, and I'm worried over melting contacts??
