Happy (at least I'm trying to be)

Something a friend said has got me thinking. Am I starting to treat this blog as a dumping ground for negative feelings? (eg endless pangs of emo-ness). If you're looking to be uplifted and inspired you should totally check out Katie Sokoler's blog. She's awesome! (I especially loved this post.)

Anyway this year's CNY ended pretty eventless save for the annual home visits among college friends. But somehow last year was so so much more fun! Either it was due to
  • lack of any element of surprise (after being together for 1.5 years we've sort of been to each other's places and got to known our families)
  • lack of wonder (omg last year when we 1st arrived at teckhong's house we were practically screaming our lungs out in the car simply awestruck)
  • lack of traffic jam! (last year there was this major major traffic jam from my place to teckhong's place; across the klang river; around 2 hours I think and we used to joke that it would be faster for BS to balik kampung @ Taiping) during the jam we 3G-ed each other and screamed even more in the car haha
  • lack of use of public transport. Ever since TH and SH almost always have had cars, KTM became sort of a pantang thing; so used to being so comfortable and not having to wait for that oh-so-punctual KTMtrain (which has further changed its timetable to 30 mins per ride! T.T)
  • lack of kakis. Takde Lih Yi and Wan ying!!! Lan sok queen and fastest speaker turned out to be vital.. Miss you guys le....
And also went for HKU scholarship interview last Sunday @ Traders Hotel KL. OMG can you believe the taxi fare from KLCC to the hotel was RM 15??? (was only a 5 min walk) and around 75 people from M'sia were interviewed; Too bad I'm not the outspoken type... Anyway will pray for the best!

Yay tomorrow's a public holiday! No work haha ^^

p.s. congrats to Cheeling for acing her STPM! Good luck with uni application :)

G-L-A-M-O-R-OUS

I know I sound like a rich tai-tai chun gu (In Manglish: kampung girl) flaunting her possessions but guess what sis got me as a present for my A Level results XD

A PRADA set of perfume + tissue (???) + lotion!

Apparently Prada in UK is about 50% cheaper than sold elsewhere. LOL sorry I know I should be more discreet. And subtle. But the thing is saya tak tahu guna perfume T.T Some people say you're supposed to spray it high in the air before you and then walk into it. Is this true??

And sadly, I will never fit in with the food & wine connoisseurs etc because my sensory organs are pretty much numb and damaged. I cannot tell if the food is over-salty unless people start commenting about the food. Then all my senses seem to come back to me. So I remember once my college friends and I went to Sasa to smell test the perfumes and they all smelled the same to me o.O

Another thing sis bought untuk saya:

Fluff is a US brand but the designs are similar to the brand Lollipop, no?

Anyway. Been watching tons of movies lately... And time indeed crawls by without work! OMG I've been checking facebook too many times a day.

1. August Rush
2. 9
3. The Bucket List
4. Julie & Julia
5. True Legend

August Rush was okay... The whole "music-is-all-around-us-&-we-just-need-to-listen" concept is pretty interesting to watch though the plot is a teensy bit unbelievable, but Freddie Highmore (from Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is so sweet ^^)

9 was lame; apparently it was supposed to be a short movie and they sort of lengthened it to make it into a movie. But the lamest was True Legend; but I guess through this movie I realised Zhou Xun is my fav female Chinese actress! She has this intelligent-cum-pretty look :)

Julie & Julia portrays the parallel lives of Julie (Amy Adams) in the year 2002 and Julia (Meryl Streep) around the 1950 era. About how both women fall in love with cooking; loved this show though didn't like Amy Adams that much.

The Bucket List by Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freeman. Need I say more? Not bad but still, not amazing too.

That's it for now!

L.O.V.E.

I guess if you know me well enough, you'd have known that I am one of those hopeless romantics obsessed with "old people love". I just think it's so so sweet to see Ah Kongs and Ah Mas holding hands etc. Oh ya once, I saw an elderly couple riding on a motorbike, with the auntie on the backseat. The wind was in her hair and she had the "I'm the happiest woman in the world" look on her face. LOL! It's like they spent their whole lives with each other somehow merge into one inseparable body, dependent on each other to make it to the next day.

Ah Kong and Ah Ma. Ah Kong has less than 50% of his vision left, while Ah Ma can hardly walk far without physical support. So Ah Kong becomes Ah Ma's walking stick and Ah Ma becomes Ah Kong's eyes. Don't you think they work like one unified body instead of two separate entities? I've never given tribute to them for taking care of me for the past 18++ years.

Though they've told me the story of my birth 24598435847 times (you know last time you were this small *cupping both hands*) and often dramatize matters (it's 3 something already, faster go bathe la *clock showing 2.30pm =.=*) I love them. And I love that they love each other in ways that I cannot even fathom. So many years together and still not sick of each other! <3

Working with kids (esp 4-year-olds!) is definitely a new experience for me. I have always been taken care of and never EVER socialized with kids. Like I don't know whether making funny faces or acting cute will make them laugh or look at me semacam o.O

But one thing I've learned this that when you give them love and praise, they'll love you back in return. I'm telling you when the kids manja-manja with me, my heart really melts though I'm supposed to be the teacher and give everyone their fair amount of love and sayang (pronounced sa3 yang2.. haha). Their love comes in the purest, most innocent form. Before they start watching Taiwanese dramas and learn up cheesy dialogues and a twisted concept of love grow up and figure out that
  • people are obsessed with physical beauty
  • people usually say things, both good and bad, that they don't mean
Though I'm (still!) celebrating Single Awareness Day this year, I'm looking at it all in a different light. Love has become so "all talk and no action". Telling people you love them through sms. Facebook apps. Apani??

Tell your mom/wife you love her by helping out with new year decoration. Stop fighting with your sis over who gains ownership to the double volume mascara. Help your dad/husband with the painting and listen to his grumbles for another day (*crosses fingers*).

LOVE in its many forms. So what is there to lose?

Lack of pictures.

I think I'm living in the past.

Today SH, CC, TH and I (the Klang people) went to subang  to go Sunway lepak for the NTU talk back at Inti, which wasn't really a necessary trip. I didn't have to take half day leave for the talk since I could've submitted my application online too (just that I saved postal money since I submitted supporting documents by hand).

Nowadays whenever we make these sort of short trips, we always have a camera in hand. I'm just wondering are we taking pictures to recapture the moments of our totally totally fun & 100% stress-free college life. Making stupid poses and playing lame pranks on passerbys (haha you won't want to know; it's damn lame)

Haha it's just me being emo. Again.

anticipation

I've stopped using Facebook apps of late (because my computer then operates at snail like pace); and just realized I have nothing much to do online! Forwarded mails seem like a obsolete fad; not to mention, blogs too T.T

But movies never go out of fashion! Just watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Sherlock Holmes today. Both were fantastic; Cloudy in a laugh out loud, entertaining way and Sherlock Holmes with a witty and CSI-ish sort of appeal; and Robert Downey Jr. is definitely a hunk for his age! *drools*

CNY is around the corner!! Really looking forward to making CNY visits with college friends and going out etc! But since I'm part-timing at the kindergarten's daycare department, pretty stressed out too cause my Std 1 and 2 students are having their exams beginning of march... Haha the first time I'm actually worried about someone else's exam; I feel like a mom le

FINALLY watching Avatar tomorrow! I feel prehistoric.

Bored + Lonely = Binge eating!

Initially I was planning on doing a post on work; but then again my job aspects have been somewhat altered of late; which made me decide that I'll write about this AFTER I quit ^^

But honestly with work, time flies. After work, that is. It's like I go home, surf the Net, bathe, have dinner, chat on msn and it's already time to hit the sack. And occasionally fit in a movie or read a chapter or two (I'm still on the Lovely Bones! I'm reading at snail-speed T.T)

And I subconsciously typed "lik" instead of "like"! What does this mean??? Most probably will sit for IELTS soon so I'll have to take note if my English starts going downhill o.O

Miss Taiwan, miss college friends, and feeling terribly emo right now. Luckily SH stopped by a few hours back for 2 hours of pillow talk; I'm in desperate need of a social life; eg chatting with people my age. Today a Std 1 year old gal asked me "Teacher, you got boyfriend or not?" LOL, apparently she wanted to intro me to her male teacher who's around 19/20 yrs old HAHA

Okay! On the bright side I'll be going Inti next week so hopefully we'll have a more successful gathering! Compared with the one a few days back at mid valley T.T

I seriously need to practice smiling in front of the mirror.

*grin*

Till I'm feeling better,
