Choices, choices

I'm soooo fickle minded! From dentistry to nutrition & dietetics to medicine... God please help me!

plus, I have to start writing my personal statement for application to UCAS (yes I'm applying to UK) so I have to pick only 1 course out of the three, unless I can write a personal statement that encompasses other courses as well..

Anyone with a 3 sided coin?

On a brighter note, I made apple pancakes for breakfast today! (with mom's help ^^) Recipe from here.

1 apple, peeled, cored and very finely sliced
150 grams self raising flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking powder*
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 cup milk

*Due to the apples, baking powder is needed to help lift the batter even though self-raising flour is used.

Sift the flour and baking powder together into a bowl. Whisk in the egg and milk until just combined. Add the apple slices and fold in, make sure they are well dispersed through the batter. Let the batter rest for about 15 minutes before using.

I used just under a quarter of a cup to make each pancake - a heavy based skillet is essential to ensure even heat distribution. Once you see bubbles forming on the surface, you can flip them over to finish cooking.

Keep the pancakes in a warm spot while you finish making the rest.

Cadbury Chocettes Championship Pics (grabbed from kk's facebook)

Some pics from Cadbury Chocettes Championship! Thanks to good lighting from kk's camera, we all look a little better than usual ^^

OMG I just can't get over how much CC has changed over a period of one year, seriously

Teck Hong looks pretty here ^^

Insert witty title here

It's been a loooooong week.

Summarized, in chronological order:
  • Got my AS results! 4As ^^ but still don't know breakdown yet... Still have enormous urge to apply to Imperial College London. (greedy right, i know)

    Chuck/Blair - I love you.Image by bitchymode via Flickr

  • Went to Genting with family. Ah kong, ah ma & dad happily trudged off to casino while mom and I went shopping. Bought two hairbands from Bonita! Yes, fashion ala Blair Waldorf has gotten to me;

I was going to wear it out but CC said I looked like a Std 6 student o.O. But i'll wear it out, someday...
  • Aus Fair at idp, subang on Friday. Honestly it didn't really help much 'cause I still prefer UK...
  • Cadbury Chocettes Finals at the Curve, Damansara! We didn't make it past 1st round (they eliminated 15 contestants okay) but it was all fun nevertheless... except the part where BS lost her phone. Long story, but we suspect it was a Malay couple (the guy was intentionally bald and tattooed, with typical fashionable malay lady, both probably in their mid-20s) seated behind us. BS (seated on my left) and SH (on my far left) went to refill Cokes at McD, their bags were unattended, I was there but watching the performances. I saw the malay guy "kacau-ing" SH's bag, I thought it was blocking his view or something, so I didn't suspect anything, but I took SH's bag and placed it on my lap, plus double checked her phone and wallet-- still there. Haiz but I didn't think of checking BS's bag; they probably took hers first before targeting SH's.
  • BS slept over at my house 'cause it was a lil dangerous travelling all alone back to her Inti Subang hostel WITHOUT a phone.. So we watched 大喜事 (singaporean movie) & Ice Age 3 on PPStream...
Oh ya and since the trip to the Curve, I realised it would be really fun shopping there! Esp The Walk at the curve--there was a whole line of mini clothes stalls, but i guess that trip'll have to wait till the H1N1 flu gets less serious...

Tzehui edition 2009: Domesticated

Maybe it's been the H1N1 flu. (which is spreading freaking fast okay! There were 200+ confirmed cases today, plus 6 deaths...scary! and honestly people who are sick should wear masks--so the people who aren't won't have to wear -_-")

And yeah I feel so domesticated 'cause I've an irrepressible passion for baking/cooking now! Plus I'm super content spending hours watching Heroes season 3 on PPStream... But I still miss karaoke-ing though :(

Mom & I baked a coffee cake yesterday(it was a 2nd attempt), recipe courtesy of June (slightly modified):

Coffee Cake Recipe
  • 1/4 cup butter (Softened at room temperature) 1st time round I actually melted it! Very wrong indeed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 all purpose flour (sifted)
  • A little less than1 Tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp instant coffee powder don't use 3 in 1 coffee powder though!
  • 2 Tbsp Low fat Yoghurt
Preheat oven at 175 C.

Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy.

Beat in egg.

Then add vanilla extract and coffee powder into mixture.

Combine flour and baking powder into mixture and stir well.

Finally mix in milk and yoghurt.

Combine batter. Pour batter into baking pan (lined with parchment paper) or cupcake pan lined with cupcake liners. For cupcakes, pour batter till about 3/4 cup full. Bake for 20-25 mins till testing skewer comes out clean or cupcakes slightly brown. For cake, it takes about 35 mins.

Off to Genting on Wednesday with family... Gotta stock up on masks, antibodies & infinite amount of prayers o.O

Wanted: A sense of humour

Psst. AS results will be out on monday, but I don't know what to be feeling right now; just definitely too early to get nervous! Keeping my fingers crossed...

Apparently getting the RM 10k (mentioned in the previous post) will not be an easy feat...Details of the finale:
  • 15th August, Saturday
  • Cineleisure Damansara
  • 11 am - 7 pm
Though our video was a group production (comprising of around 7 gals) but we decided to send kaykay out for the solo performance part in the finale, and she has to tell AT LEAST 10 jokes in 3 mins..

So everyone out there, if you've got any good jokes/videos of extremely FUNNY stand up comedies as reference, please leave a comment, thanks so much!

p.s. no controversial/sexual/racist/political jokes please ^^

Wednesday, August 5

I've developed a sudden love for animated films! Check out "Up" (which has been released all over the world a couple of months ago and coming to Malaysian cinemas only by this month.. -_-")

PPStream: Best P2P TV ever!!

Thanks to recommendation from a couple of friends, I've discovered this amazing software where there are TONS of movies, TV series etc that are practically inexhaustible for the rest of your life! And best of all, it's virus-free! (according to them) I'm not much of a techie and I'm terribly afraid to download movies online so this is pretty much the best solution!

To download click here.

The only downside to it is that it's all in mandarin, so if you're mandarin illiterate or your computer is (thanks to WY who helped me fix this.. I had no idea what she did to my laptop though) then unfortunately you can't watch it, so here's thanks to mom and dad, and Hin Hua and Kwang Hua ^^

Cover of Cover of Bolt

Just watched Bolt & Coraline from PPstream. Bolt was pretty funny, with really cute pets, and Coraline was mysterious and hauntingly alluring; eg Pan's Labyrinth + Corpse Bride (it's a stop-motion movie)

To search for the movies on PPStream, type 闪电狗 (Bolt) or
鬼妈妈卡罗琳 (Coraline)

Sis is coming back this afternoon with bf James (Sis just flew back from London this morning o.O)
