Monday, February 7

We laughed, we cried, and then we grew up.

Despite the countless obstacles, our college gang finally met up, though the only-half-of-the-group-showed-up gathering only lasted barely 4 hours.

We went back to our old college and saw Mr Lau (maths), Mr Nava (physics AS sem 2), Mr Yeoh (physics A2) and we wanted to listen to Mr Lau's lecture but us barging into the class was simply too obvious although I didn't mind doing it cause we already have a bad reputation in college

We ate at Inti Cafeteria. The nasi lemak was still RM 1 and spicy. We met a fake Lihyi who had almost the same haircut, same bell-sleeved shirt who brought her own lunch. We spotted some familiar faces; the lab assistant, our bio teacher's archenemy, and some lookalikes from our old days in college.

For a moment I felt alive again.

Where I lived in a world with my own rules. Where people's opinions about what I did, what I wore, what I said didn't matter anymore because I had a group of friends who accepted my loudness and lack of subtlety.

But living abroad (in fact leaving college) has given me enough lessons that the world can be evil, it can be pretentious, it can be selfish. In fact it's brimming with so much lies it's so hard to spot sheer honesty.

But I strongly believe that no matter how badly the world treats me, I will not turn into one of those backstabbing, hatred filled, self centred people, even if it hurts me.

I will keep on fighting, keep on falling, and keep on getting up.

Because I know that when I can take it no more, I'll have my true friends to hang on to.

Thank you for everything =)

missing you

came across this image SH edited and slipped into my pen drive before she returned it to me right before I left to HK.

I never knew how much I actually enjoyed my college days until the time I went back msia during winter break. During those 2 weeks, I would laugh till I cried, shout till my voice turned hoarse and I wasn't being afraid of saying/doing the wrong thing. I could be myself and not worry about the implications it would bring because people around me were so REAL.

And though nothing can ever be the same, I'm glad to have this 1 and a half years worth of sweet memories.

I LOVE YOU NG SUAT HOON <3 and mama kk ly bs wy cc thboy hl!!!

Grateful

Kite flying.

Not really sure why but I wanted to fly a kite for a really, really long time now. Probably to enjoy the wind in my face, the exhilaration of running against wind direction and the sense of completion.

Thanks guys, for putting a full stop and marking the end of something that was never even meant to start. Finally, I feel complete again =)

It'll be one month before I see Malaysia again. Thank God that's pretty soon =)

Glad!

Celebrated teckhong's b'day 2 days ago in Sunway Pyramid. I was the one who planned most of it, and finally the one who got tricked!!!! by mama who told me she was coming back the following weekend T.T so so shocked to suddenly see her emerge from the bottom of the table! the conversation went something like this:-

kaykay: tze hui, when is mama coming back msia again? (she's studying in NUS now)
me: she told me the coming weekend lo...
*suddenly passes her phone to me, with mama on the line*
mama: tze hui!! where are you guys now?
me: at kim gary, sunway lo, why?
mama: i'm also there le!!
me: don't lansok (aka try to say that we have something in common) with me can or not...
mama: *emerges from the bottom of the table* i told you i'm at kim gary what..!!
me: *SHOCKED and grabs beeshuang by the shoulder*

but it was such a glad, glad glad reunion. Thanks mama for coming since you won't be able to make it next weekend which will be officially the last time I see the rest of you guys T.T

what we do.. all the time. now we can't do it face to face, msn does the job XD
b'day cake baked by me + suathoon + chaicheen! Chocolate tempation; recipe given by mama (check it out below)
full attendance!!! and thanks so much for the farewell card.. i NEARLY got emo but stopped myself just in time.. told myself its too early its too early XD
and sis came back from singapore also to see me one last time before I leave for HK.. So blessed to have all of you.. really!!! xoxoxoxoxo <3
Chocolate Temptation
A:
20g chocolate emulco
50g cocoa powder
50g hot water
B:
250g butter
270g castor sugar
2g salt
C:
240g (4nos) egg
D
250g superfine flour
6g (1tsp) baking powder
2g (1/2 tsp) sodium bicarbonate
Choc ganache
150g dairy whipped cream
150g cooking choc
25g butter
25g glucose syrup

  1. Combine A and mix well.
  2. Beat B until light and fluffy. Add C one at a time and mix well until smooth.
  3. Add A to the mixture and blend to form smooth batter.
  4. Add sieved ingredients D.
  5. Pour batter into 9 inch cake tin (I used 8 inch but it's still ok) . Bake at 180 C 40-45mins. (however, my cake had a HUGE crack on the top after 45 mins and the inside was still quite wet! so my friend suggested I put an aluminum foil on the top throughout the whole process to prevent uneven baking)
  6. Cut the cake into 3 layers and spread the ganache on each layer, and also throughout the exterior of the cake.
Okay!! Gotta go sort things out. Pronto =)

p.s. currently reading Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. final read before HK?

hahaha

today i met up with suathoon and teckhong @ taylors.

and i laughed till i teared and my tummy hurt over some lame joke of asking them to design a jacuzzi that could double up as a steamboat.

am so glad that although people grow old, move apart, lead separate lives, some things in life just don't change.

=)

'm starting to get the jitters.

oh ya a video on the hall i will be staying in HKU. (RC Lee)

i believe

in eternity. in forever-afters.

In some random conversation yesterday, a friend mentioned that she didn't want to get married, but would like to experience a relationship.

But to me, being in love is not like an inventory in the "things to do before you die" list. Nowadays people change bfs/gfs almost at the same rate of changing their handphones (unless you have an iPhone I think, because then it would be pretty pricey XD) They fall in love, date, lose the feeling, call it quits, change fb status to "single", emo for a couple of months and look for someone new.

There's nothing wrong with the sequence, but won't it get a little tiring once repeated one too many times? Suddenly it loses its value of being precious and hard to find.

Call me idealistic, call me old school, but I believe that love is not a game. It's not something you can just take and put down that easily. I believe that one day, you will find someone that shares your faith, appreciates you for who you are and gets brutally honest with you all the time. Don't believe me? Watch 500 days of summer! Superb superb movie =)

(500) Days of Summer

I also believe, that no matter how many friends you have (in real life or in facebook! haha), it's truly truly important to have friends that will be there for you. On msn, on facebook chat, on the phone, in person. There are the ones that will last for life. No expiry date, and non-disposable ones. My favourites.

Thanks for being there when I needed you guys. And you know who you are. This one's for you <3

Gone but never forgotten

When 150cm meets 167cm (twisted version)

Dear Mama,

Honestly I tried lots and lots of ways of starting this. Every single time, I start all over again, because my feelings are truly, truly indescribable.

You are a special friend. From your curious antics of eating the interior of a fishball before finishing off the skin, to your trademark burp which comes in the oddest moments in class, you are a person, so different yet one that we can find so much in common with.

Our friendship grew, day by day, as we used to wait for the minibus heading to the train station together. Sometimes, we would walk from college to subang KTM station, but everyday was an enjoyable one despite the burning sun. Along the way, we stumbled, and often more than not, made fools of ourselves.

But that doesn't matter. At all. I don't regret any single day spent at college, spent with you and our classmates. Because it taught me how to accept myself for exactly who I am; not a taller, less pimple-ridden, slimmer version. Just tzehui and nothing more.

Tragedy hit you hard in the face, and we've seen you struggle emotionally but we were so helpless at the sidelines. Sometimes during outings you have to leave early to deal with your family issues. We saw your heart break, get fixed up, then break again. You grew stronger each time you fell down. But no matter what happened, you never, ever put on a sulky face in class. So every lesson was not just a joy for you, but also fun for the rest of us.

So thank you, mama.

For giving us everything and asking nothing in return.
For so often lending an ear and listening to my incessant rantings.
For your infectious laughter and funny metaphors and seeing lookalikes everywhere we go
For helping me organise gatherings even if you weren't attending them!
For completing my sentences or saying the same thing simultaneously
For bringing so much joy, laughter and warmth into our lives.

Thank you for being there when I needed you, and wishing you all the best in your studies in Spore! MSN and Skype ALL THE TIME kay?

Love you forever & ever & ever~~~

XOXO,
tzehui

All mixed up

Ja An, Yi Hen, Yi Shuen & Ci En observing intently as the tadpole-turned frog is released into the drain

Somehow as each day draws to an end, I become afraid. The thought of being further away from what used to bring me so so so much happiness is draining the life out of me T.T

2 months from now, I will no longer see 4 yr olds stumbling out of balance every few steps across the classroom. Their shy, toothy smile or them saying "I love you" oh so generously to friends and teachers they truly love.

I can't go lepak-ing with college friends anymore. And stand around again in a circle asking each other what we want to have for lunch and not find any conclusion half an hour later (unless kaykay's around!! haha)

I'll miss the short yet wonderful time I spent in Klang Presbyterian Church. This was where I found my faith and built my relationship with God. Thankfully this is something I can continue in HK!! But having church friends really made me feel that I am not alone in overcoming worldly tempations =)

I can't play poker with my grandparents anymore or joke around with them. Or listen to my grandma tell the story of my birth for the 11239827958274th time. Or eat their delicious sambal or help them with groceries during marketing :(

But I guess if I don't let go, I'll never grow up. Trust me, not being able to grow up vertically is painful enough XD

See! Even my 13 yr old cousin is so so so much taller than me T.T

p.s. can u spot me? 13 years ago XD

(one of ) The Last Supper(s)

Meet up at Yuen Steamboat Buffet Restaurant @ Subang for lihyi's b'day...

Happy 19th, LIH YI!!! Thank you for all your cute cute antics and delicious pastry and for being an avid fan of the chinese auspicious colour--red! hehe =)

I think we were too obsessed eating ice cream to be picking out expensive seafood for the steamboat o.O

Oh ya and anyway the rest of us made a cake for lihyi too! I daresay one the the more successful cakes I've baked with my mediocre skills; so I'm pretty proud of it, and thanks to mama for the great recipe!

150 g superfine flour
2g (1/4 tsp) baking powder
80g castor sugar

60ml water
5g green tea powder

100g castor sugar

some fruits

Moviesmoviesmovies

Went out yesterday to 1U for kk's birthday celebration (no pics available until kk posts them on fb and I go grab them keke) and boy! I think I'm one of the few left in our group that's like really free to organise gatherings o.O

I still remembered last year we did the same thing for kk's bday too! Went to 1U for a movie =) just that last year we hid at her house underneath her kitchen counter just to surprise her... And the year before that we just gotten to know each other and didn't know each other's bdays yet, so I remembered that day she was like "Today is my b'day." Then we went "Oh! Happy b'day!" Haha so awkward.

OMG I sound like an old woman recalling the times when her hair was black, long and flowy & running around wasn't a problem o.O

It's just memories that I linger onto haplessly. What is my problem?
The Killers movie image Ashton Kutcher Katheri...
Movies watched recently:
1. Killers
Starring Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher. (ASHTON KUTCHER!! showing off his abs!! that's reason enough to watch right) Watched this movie yesterday with the others but klang people were late(which includes me haha) so missed out the front part; Spencer (Ashton) is a spy who decides to quit his job after meeting the love of his life (Katherine) at Nice. 3 years later (somehow, I don't remember why) he has got 20 million bounty on his head and so practically you can see most of his friendly suburbia neighbours turn out to be gun-wielding and a**-kicking assassins. But the movie seemed kind of short for me! But then again we were late for more than half an hour, so. Haha

2. Son of Rambow
Son of Rambow
Watched on Funshion. Relatively unknown film but pretty good! About two young boys, one a classic school mischief and the other from a strict religious family who get together to film an amateur movie about the son of Rambo saving Rambo (you even get a glimpse of Sylvester Stallone in his heydays). Basically a movie about friendship and the power of dreams. Sweet, lighthearted AND ALSO co-starring Ed Westwick (who plays Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl). You get to see him flaunt his native British slang =)

Cover of "Howl's Moving Castle"3. Howl's Moving Castle (Japanese film; directed by Hayao Mizayaki)
A 2D animation adapted from Diana Wynne Jones' book that is superb simply because of Hayao Mizayaki! An awesome awesome artist but I was a bit confused with the plot though; it didn't follow the book cover to cover o.O

Okay gotta go watch more movies again! What a way to spend the holidays T.T

Missing u like crazy

OMG when I saw this pic I seriously felt a pang of misery.

Long, long, long gone were the times of lame jokes & lengthy votes for lunch & our reverberating laughter all around Inti T.T

I miss kaykay's 走快点! and the flicker of her rebonded-and-dyed hair in the hot afternoon sun

I miss wanying's adsfkwoifjwefje (cannot catch what she's saying cause her speech is almost faster than the speed of light haha)

I miss beeshuang's 我很懒惰 & how she mounts her head like a horse when she doesn't feel like doing something (haha does anyone understand what I mean? sorry it sounds so.. wrong)

I miss mama's laughter (I mean who can forget that?) and 你不觉得他很像...and 很容易折断 and 那个傻佬

I miss lihyi's helpless whimper (hahaaa but not in an offensive way) and her homecooked food!!

I miss teckhong's car (haha our means of transport to subang) and his reaction towards gossip *wink*

I miss suathoon's (almost) inaudible voice and her (almost) reckless driving!

I miss chaicheen's cry of 哇你看那个女子很瘦 when she herself is an equal (if not thinner) opponent

I miss hui lee for simply being the newcomer in our group but fitting in perfectly nevertheless!! haha

I MISS YOU.

*sobs*

Dwindling numbers

Susahnya buat gathering!

Absentees:
WY - Too far up in Alor Setar and only willing to come if we sponsor everything haa
BS - Having exam tomorrow (she's studying medicine, so. That pretty sums up her stress level XD )
KK - Busy doing housework (you can literally ice-skate on the floor at her house o.O) and having dance practice later
LY - Having A Level exams!! Good luck good luck good luck =)
Hui Lee - working @ subzero (and ironically, resigning on Sunday, which is tomorrow T.T)
CC - her 1st week staying outside home (somewhere near HELP uni college) and her parents want her to stay in and don't go out (???)

Those who made it:

@ the Apartment, The Curve. We weren't exactly famished so we ordered dessert. Food was honestly just okay and very pricey! I paid like RM 9 for a bottle of fanta orange which tasted exactly like miranda orange softdrink...

But we still managed to entertain ourselves by laughing at a flea market shop attendant across the street (haha 江山易改本性难移! Us will be us ^^)

Then.. to the movies--A Nightmare on Elm Street!

The sort of movie where the (usually) hideous villain suddenly pops out and attempts to scare the soul out of you, which is acceptable for my definition of horror. Thai & Korean horror movies are an absolute, definite no. (I've only watched Shutter and the scene where she suddenly materialized in the photo is still oven-fresh in my mind! scarryyyy)

Hopefully there will be full attendance for the next gathering! Till then =) Reblog this post [with Zemanta]

I am afraid

... of forgetting.

How the radio was always on full blast in KK's car when she came to pick us up from Subang KTM station.

The smell of KFC in Carrefour when we walk past it, and mama used to say it was damn smelly XD

Asking each other 今天吃什么 (what to eat today for lunch) and everyone saying 随便 (anything) ^^ and counting the number of ticks on the "where for lunch" voting paper

The female voice in Inti lift saying "Firs-tuh floor."

How we nicknamed basically all the strangers at Inti-- from 红毛丹 (rambutan) because of his hair, 洗脸盆(basin) his name sounded like one, water cooler we were busy admiring how slim our legs looked from the reflection on the water cooler we didn't notice him standing behind us with an utterly confused expression, KP haha sorry reason undisclosed, to 蓝牙小孩 (bluetooth kid)  bluetooth kid because he always wore one around school (Did I miss out anyone?)

....of the distance.

How work and uni life separates us all.

.... of the person I will become.

Will I take physical beauty too seriously?

Will I stop sharing and caring when I enter uni?

...of letting go.

... of how things will never be the same. Ever.

I am afraid, so I pray that God will guide me through it.

Happy (at least I'm trying to be)

Something a friend said has got me thinking. Am I starting to treat this blog as a dumping ground for negative feelings? (eg endless pangs of emo-ness). If you're looking to be uplifted and inspired you should totally check out Katie Sokoler's blog. She's awesome! (I especially loved this post.)

Anyway this year's CNY ended pretty eventless save for the annual home visits among college friends. But somehow last year was so so much more fun! Either it was due to
  • lack of any element of surprise (after being together for 1.5 years we've sort of been to each other's places and got to known our families)
  • lack of wonder (omg last year when we 1st arrived at teckhong's house we were practically screaming our lungs out in the car simply awestruck)
  • lack of traffic jam! (last year there was this major major traffic jam from my place to teckhong's place; across the klang river; around 2 hours I think and we used to joke that it would be faster for BS to balik kampung @ Taiping) during the jam we 3G-ed each other and screamed even more in the car haha
  • lack of use of public transport. Ever since TH and SH almost always have had cars, KTM became sort of a pantang thing; so used to being so comfortable and not having to wait for that oh-so-punctual KTMtrain (which has further changed its timetable to 30 mins per ride! T.T)
  • lack of kakis. Takde Lih Yi and Wan ying!!! Lan sok queen and fastest speaker turned out to be vital.. Miss you guys le....
And also went for HKU scholarship interview last Sunday @ Traders Hotel KL. OMG can you believe the taxi fare from KLCC to the hotel was RM 15??? (was only a 5 min walk) and around 75 people from M'sia were interviewed; Too bad I'm not the outspoken type... Anyway will pray for the best!

Yay tomorrow's a public holiday! No work haha ^^

p.s. congrats to Cheeling for acing her STPM! Good luck with uni application :)

Friday, December 4

Decisions, decisions, decisions

As you might've seen, our Melaka trip pics has been all over facebook so I'll just upload a couple of nice ones ^^

INTI

A LEVEL

The next time we'll really meet up will be in next year while getting our A2 results *sobs* And btw congrats to the super super smart Bee Shuang who's going to UK some time before X'Mas for an Oxford interview (for Medicine! OMG) Good luck ya, all of us have faith in you! We are all prepared to organise a farewell for you to UK already haha XD Must remember us lo when you get over there T.T

Anyway might be working as a kindergarten helper starting next year; the pay is pretty low but honestly I'm totally inexperienced with kids (since I was the one doing all the crying and not the caretaking o.O) so maybe this job will make me more maternal and less of a baby myself =)

Sis is coming back with bf tomorrow! So probably more outings, more movies and more delicious food ^^

Saturday, October 3

Thanks for all the wishes through facebook and sms... Realized that my life wouldn't be complete without friends :)

Check out what I got as a present! Suat Hoon dropped this on my doorstep when Suzanne called my house asking for Chemistry marking scheme to distract me away from the front door... Damn fake wei...

geng ler....

if my friends can afford the real deal then we could be the malaysian version of Gossip Girl ady.. but anyway thanks so much for the mascara + eyelash curler! I didn't tell u guys before but I always wanted to learn how to use it.. someday... so thanks lotssss!!

And thanks to Yenwoon for the plush toy dog! Love you lots babe ^^

and here's a collage for my college friends.. Will really miss the times we spent together... hope we can obsessively hang out after A2!!

Friday, October 2

A flurry of events!

Our final college outing before A2 exams! 1st stop: Neway karaoke, Subang

Coincidentally everyone in our class LOVES singing...

... and are NEVER camera shy XD

We later had our dinner (it was 9pm by the time we reached and everyone was starving) at FullHouse, Ara Damansara (NiuZeXui). Check out food review by KampungBoyCityGal here.

Suat Hoon looks absolutely divine dontcha think? Guess who was the photographer ^^

Apparently lots of people go there for the atmosphere 'cause it's actually a restaurant designed like a house, eg with living room, bedroom etc. Honestly I expected it to be a tad bit bigger, something like a bungalow made into a restaurant but anyway the pics turned out great! thanks to kaykay's miraculous pimple-removing camera and good lighting ^^

Cute!
Teck Hong constipated

Attempt #1 at creating love life rumours for Teck Hong

Kaykay flanked by the chefs that look like french maids! lol

Attempt #2; damn romantic right?

Omgosh look at Teck Hong's face... so "chuan"

Attempt #3-fairytale version

Attempt #4--cute version!

Then they did a combined birthday celebration for Wan Ying (oct 7) and me (do you need reminding?). The initial plan was to slap us awake at 3am but I was only sleeping lightly so I woke up the moment they opened the door.. Sorry for ruining your plan ya guys :)

b'day cake made by Mama and Kaykay, decorated by Suat Hoon, CC, LY ^^

But anyway I had a blast! Thanks to everyone.. Love you guys!!! Muaxxsss~~~~
